Hello, Visitors, and welcome to Ashbrook!

This post is a place for you to introduce yourself and your new character to the game!

You can also use this post as an opportunity to coordinate roles with other players! Are your characters neighbors, or perhaps even roommates? Do they go to school together? Do NPCs insist that the two of them have a heated rivalry or a sordid romantic history? Discuss these scenarios and more here!

OH BOY HERE WE GO. Hello, everyone! I'm Rona, and I'm on the modteam here at Ashbrook. As is my way, I'm bringing you a monstrous mentor figure with dodgy morals and probably too much power. But this one's also a squid.

Please enjoy The Emperor, a mind flayer from Baldur's Gate III. Pronouns are it/they/he so just pick whatever feels funniest in the moment. It takes itself very seriously but no one else should. This character carries a lot of BG3 spoilers, which I will try to flag for anyone avoiding them! Please feel free to opt out entirely by commenting here.

In Ashbrook, the Emperor is known as (highlight for spoiler) John Balduran (he/him), a very successful man, father, and head of the PTA. He's the local helicopter pilot for the nearby wilderness. This can't possibly go wrong.

I am looking for children, ideally 1-2 in elementary/middle school and 2-3 in high school. Also, his beautiful wife. To be clear, NPCs look at him and see a normal human man. All PCs will be able to look at him and see a six- or seven-foot-tall skeletal purple humanoid with tentacles on its face. Can't wait.

"I am looking for children" is easily the most ominous way to put that, but as mentioned on plurk: here is a child (soldier) of 17. He was originally going to have a nice older couple adopt him, but that's lovely and sweet, and he should go be stressed instead.

Hi fellow non human! Rastaban is secretly a magical being tied to his human soul, with a human body that is crafted from his memories of when he was still human. Other than his fellow mages he has never met another non human before so this will be interesting!

In Ashbrook he works as a gardener while he goes to nursing school and he has been roped into helping the community theatre where his female performances are well regarded if you are interested in role connections.

I haven't gotten very far with Baldur's Gate III yet but I'm already very intrigued by the story and excited to meet your Emperor! I would prefer to avoid major spoilers but small ones are fine.

hello! my name is floral (she/they), and i am bringing you lottie matthews from generation z lost, aka yellowjackets. lottie is coming from the end of the latest season of the show, so please let me know if you'd like to avoid spoilers!

in the show, lottie is an all-star varsity soccer player who was en route for the national championship when her plane crashed in the remote wilderness, leaving herself and several other members of her team stranded. since then, lottie has been powering through an extremely brutal survival situation, all while dealing with escalating teen girl drama. she may have also made contact with the supernatural and become her group's local prophet. it's fine.

in ashbrook, meanwhile, lottie goes to the local high school and is a member of the junior forest rangers! she has lived in ashbrook her entire life, just outside town near the forest. i'd love for lottie to have connection via the high school (where she's not especially popular), the rangers, or generally around town.

lol Lottie sounds interesting! I've only heard about yellowjackets but I'm intrigued.

Rastaban is a prickly introvert, with a magic secret, who thinks people aren't with the hassle so naturally he needs people to bother him! If you are interested in role connections he works as a gardener while he goes to nursing school and he has been roped into helping the community theatre where his female performances are well regarded.

Outside of his role Rastaban will probably spend a lot of time in the woods where he can feel like his magical self again so she can easily run into him there.

Hi hello it is I, Min (he/him) who is also Boo Boo the Fool, because I really wasn't planning on apping a second, but playing Ledo in this setting has been super fun so far! I also have Izō in-game as a total contrast to this nerd.

Ledo is from the anime Suisei no Gargantia or Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet in English, but now you see why I use the Japanese name lol. In canon, Ledo is a 17-year-old child soldier who pilots a mech in the forever war against a highly evolved species of space-faring squid called Hideauze. He has spent his entire life in the military and only knows how to fight and be a soldier because human society has been reduced to only what has been deemed necessary and efficient.

This means that Ledo doesn't know anything, especially about living on a planet. Or having personal relationships. Or feelings.

He has also been assigned peak nerd life. He is a top student, a Mathlete, in JROTC, and an intolerable HALL MONITOR. The Sheriff and Ranger Ortega think he's a pretty good kid! He's lived in Ashbrook for most of his life and has lived with a foster family. He volunteers sometimes for rescue efforts in the woods and on the ski slopes. Lily Wagner at the community centre will also just shove him into group activities in the hope that he'll make a friend or feel something.

He is gonna have a great time with the local squidman.

lottie does junior rangers stuff out in the woods but is a bad student who sometimes cuts class, so i'd be down for their AU counterparts to know each other but also have a silly little teen feud going if you are! canon lottie and ledo's cr doesn't have to be negative of course but i do think the au rivalry could be funny lol

Naito is friends with Lily, since he contributes a lot in the community and often helps organize or supervise events, so I feel like he's definitely one of the people she would throw Ledo at. It might be cute if they were friends, or at least knew each other!

In Ashbrook Rastaban works as a gardener for for various non-profit local establishments, such as the Community Center and he was roped into helping out with the community theatre if either of those interest you. He's also an introvert so maybe Lily shoved them into group activities together? Let me know your thoughts. I love this CR already!

Hello all, I am Thorn previously known as Callie, happily answering to both. I am bringing you Xerxes Break, my default character, to Mad Hatter up the place. From the Wonderland canon of Pandora Hearts, he is an exhausted trollish mentor type with many many soft spots, and he has been given the phenomenal role of being the eccentric shithead attempting to revive the community theater. I have no idea what I am going to do about this yet but Break is a Victorian goth with a flair for the dramatic, the air of a magician, and absolutely nothing to do otherwise on account of he is dead, so the world is my oyster here honestly!

Nevermind that he used to be a legendary serial killer. That was like fifteen years ago or something.

IMPORTANT: I am slow as hell! I have a baby who's about to turn ten months old, and while I have plenty of time to tag these days, whether I have a living brain cell any given evening is another matter. Thus I thrive on backtags and whatever tag is "easiest" is written first, so some threads progress while others sit and marinate a bit first. I am always open to discussing how a thread is going if I'm not going fast enough for you! So don't be afraid to reach out, and thanks in advance for your patience.

Hello again, Ashbrook! It's Kei once more, bringing you my second character: Chuuya Nakahra from Bungou Stray Dogs! In canon he is an orphaned science experiment turned child gang leader turned high-ranking member of the mafia! He is also a wine enthusiast and has gravity powers.

In Ashbrook, Chuuya lives a much simpler life as a motorcycle mechanic. He hangs out with Marshall a lot and has as a reputation for being an incredibly honest mechanic. However, he's not popular with Sebastian or the other the forest rangers because of his off-road motorcycle habits.

When it comes to role connections I am looking for...

FAMILY! Chuuya is the second oldest of 5! He has an older sibling (24-27ish) and 3 younger siblings (10-19ish). These slots are all open for the taking! Please come get yourself an older/younger brother. (He also has a single mom but I'm not sure anyone here is old enough for that role.)

FRIENDS OF FAMILY! Alternately, come grab you the cool older brother of your friend! Chuuya's siblings can be in any grade from 4th to a college graduate, so that's an easy way for him to get secondhand CR with any students in the game.

RANDOM POSITIVE CR! Honestly, hit me with your best shot. You want to be a customer? Friend? Fellow wine enthusiast? Casual boy/girlfriend? Let's figure it out.

Mayoi Ayase | Ensemble Stars!!

HELLO IT IS ME JAMI your resident Dipper Pines.

This time, instead of the cryptid hunter, I have brought the cryptid. This is Mayoi! He's from hit rhythm game Ensemble Stars!! Which is a normal franchise about boys who like to sing on stage and nothing weird happens ever.

Anyway, Mayoi lives in the walls and can quote the entirety of Phantom of the Opera. He's also in a boyband with a gaggle of other societal misfits and their sound is like this!

In Ashbrook Mayoi's family owns a flower shop that he is being expected to take over, but his real passion is childcare and so he works part-time as an aide to a local daycare. Unsurprising, he's got a lot on his plate! But he will be around, scuttling through your vents and popping out of your ceilings don't worry.

Mayoi is also a lonely guy with poor self esteem and awful anxiety so please be his friend. Once he likes you he will be the fussiest mom friend on the planet.

ps: yes the shark teeth are real and not just a stylistic choice, they can be commented on.

Misty (Fucking) Quigley | Yellowjackets

hello, my name is Cass (she/her), and I'm bringing you the normalest girl in all the world, misty fucking quigley from yellowjackets. she's a deeply socially awkward and desperately lonely teenager who takes these both to extremes that slide into horror.

like lottie, she is coming in from the finale of season two, so be aware that some spoilers might come up in her threads.

in the show, she's the equipment manager of her high school's girls' soccer team and this extremely important position landed her on a private jet that crashed deep in the middle of the wilderness. there, she soon took the role as the de facto doctor given that she's the only one with any medical knowledge because she took the red cross babysitter's course. twice. the situation spirals out of control, people start dying, misty destroys their only way home to keep being useful, and then suddenly they've spent two seasons in the woods.

here she's a volunteer at the local hospital and a resident loner who very few people can really stand. i'd love for people at the highschool to have passing relationships with her, either born out of pity or mutual loneliness. she lives in the suburbs in an apartment with her brand new parents and a little sister.

Rastaban Aesen | Original Character

Hello! I'm Nicholaj (she/her) and I'm bringing my OC Rastaban. He's one of my mages from the same idea as Altair, Arrakis and Sheliak if you have played with me before.

Rastaban is a prickly introvert. He was the sole heir to the noble Aesen house. Due to his poor health many looked down on his house and targeted him because of his weakness. Because of this he expects the worst from everyone and doesn't make friends easily. He also created a twin sister persona to be a shield for him and his family. He was chosen as the next life mage and he was transformed him into a being made of magic that is tied to his humans soul. He's an energy vampire and due to his magic's dark secret he and his friends had to flee to a version of Earth that is loosely tied to history but with a magical twist. There's a more detailed description about Rastaban and his history on his journal here

His Ashbrook AU thankfully less complicated and I'm super excited for it! Rastaban works as a gardener for various non-profit local establishments, such as the Community Center. Due to his diligence and care, he's on good terms with many of Ashbrook's small town "leaders" such as Lily Wagner and Dr. Sam Levitt in particular. He also takes part in the local theatre from time to time, acting as a pinch hitter when someone falls out for whatever reason; his female performances are well-regarded by the likes of young men like Ricky Mallory, who doesn't believe for a second Rastaban doesn't have a twin sister he's hiding somewhere. While he's working on a nursing degree at Innsmouth University, it's slow going due to his active involvement in Ashbrook's community as well his own poor health. He's lived in Ashbrook for at least six years.

Rastban will probably hate how busy and popular his alternate self was but I look forward to forcing him out of his shell. I added onto some details and I'm using all of the amazing bonus detail I got from the mods. His full role information can be found here.

I'm interested in all the connections! Some specifics I'm looking for are a single father, his mother and twin sister died during childbirth, a roommate to torment him and force him to have fun once in while, nursing school classmates, theatre buddies, and a member of his or Rasta's fanclub would be fun! Those are just the ones connected to his role though. I welcome any connections you come up with!

hello friends! I'm Mads (they/them) here with Karol Capel from the ancient video game Tales of Vesperia. He leads a guild and helped save the world and swings a big hammer, and he's only 12 years old!

His role is middle schooler, but also he's the Patrol Leader for the local boy scout troop and involved in the drama club at school.

He can live with an NPC family, but would also be down for him to be part of a PC family. In canon, he's an orphan, so any family will be a big change for him.

Would love for him to find or already have friends in the local middle schooler population, and possibly an adult boy scout troop leader. He might attach himself to some cool high schoolers, or be known as that annoying kid who won't stop following you around

He gets on well with kids and adults, is bully-able and very open to be mentored, or manipulated, depending on your flavor preference.

HI FRIENDS this is batty, player of ghost bug detective ginko, with my second character: shinjiro aragaki from persona 3! he was a sad trash punk delinquent who got caught up in a lot of bullshit and spent the last 2 years having a bad time, and now he has arrived in Ashbrook and is now a Regular Teenager in every possible way, which delights me.

He is a senior at Wilton High who volunteers for a local "Meals on Wheels"-style program. He is apparently super well-involved in the community doing various good boy things, so if you would like to assume our characters worked together on some sort of volunteer project together at some point hmu!!! Also, troublemakers, punks, delinquents and various other less-than-savory types are likely to not entirely trust him due to his boy scoutishness, so I would laugh a lot abt Shinjiro being unwelcome amongst the crowd he used to be more familiar with in canon.

Finally, he was NOT born in Ashbrook and has been in foster care until he was adopted by a couple in town 8 years ago SO fellow foster kid cr would also be neat!
